How Glacis Works
A user sends a message from a dApp on Chain 1, which is screened by our firewall for security verification of your policies. This message is then routed through Glacis, acting as a GMP matching engine, to ensure it is directed to the correct chain with the right parameters. The message may pass through various GMP providers. Upon receipt at Chain 2, the message undergoes another security check before being received by the intended application, where the message is then processed accordingly.
Abstraction
Using Glacis in your cross-chain dApp lowers bridge provider risks and allows seamless switching for message dispatch without developer interface modifications, ensuring adaptability amidst bridge-related issues or changes.
Retry Management
Glacis enables resending or pushing through messages that are delayed or stuck, ensuring delivery by employing strategies ranging from “exactly once” and “guaranteed” (which may involve multiple attempts), to “best effort” delivery prioritizing cost-efficiency.
Redundancy
Glacis streamlines cross-chain messaging with a system that sends messages through m-of-n bridges and enforces threshold matching, enhancing both execution reliability and security by managing quorums effectively.
Access Control
Glacis protects your smart contracts from unauthorized access and cross chain threats. It does this by allowing devs to create granular access control lists using source chain, source contract, or wildcards, normalized to work across any bridge.
Routing
Glacis enables intelligent message routing and failover, directing high-value messages (like critical alerts or sensitive information) through secure, feature-rich bridges, while routing low-value messages (such as routine updates) through cost-effective, scalable pathways.
